The foundation of this museum was laid in 1876 when the Prince of Wales visited Jaipur for the first time.

This building was constructed using a Town Hall in 1880. Later, the king of Jaipur, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II suggested using it as a state museum for Industrial arts. A few years after, the museum was used to display masterpieces of local artisans. In 1881, the museum was at its magnificent beauty, and people across the country flocked here to buy or enjoy handicrafts, artwork, and other masterpieces. The buildings were under construction until 1887 and now maintain their genuine beauty.
